Our favorite musical storyteller has a crush on Marie-Antoinette. Didn't he set to music a film recreating a concert for the queen at her estate in Versailles? André Modeste Grétry was the favourite composer of the unfortunate sovereign: fortunately, Guy Van Waas loves him too! This augurs well for a captivating and varied musical portrait of the composer from Liège, from Italy of the youth to Paris, from the Ancien Régime to the Empire, including the Revolution, which he crossed with his head held high, with comic operas. Les Agrémens and our young vocal talents also have in their boxes some scores of other musicians who have been through this turbulent period, such as François-Joseph Gossec, born in the boot of Hainaut, trained in Walcourt and official musician of the Revolution. Grétry and Gossec, cemetery neighbours at Père-Lachaise, will undoubtedly have patriotic and posthumous quivers at this concert...
